Vanity

For my final major project at college i was originally going to do a series of self portraits inspired by Cindy Sherman’s Film Stills, but after a lot of thinking and discussing i decided i wanted to try something different. I’ve had a spur-of-the-moment new idea to do 7 self portraits based on the seven deadly sins; Greed, Gluttony, Lust, Vanity, Anger, Sloth and Envy. Ideas have to be presented tomorrow so i did, what was possibly the quickest test shoot of my life, based on the idea of vanity. Not the most original idea for a picture i’ve ever had, but i really want to develop my ideas over the next few weeks. The exhibition is the day after my 19th birthday!

Visions

It took an hour and a half, a roll of tin foil and all of my hairspray to turn my sister’s hair from straight to afro for my shoot. Totally worth it though.. 

Don’t let the sunset fool you, it felt like  it was minus one million degrees when i took this picture (may be a slight exaggeration)..
